A Scientific Analysis of Rusty Textiles from the Gaya Period Excavated at No.63 Tomb Gyodong, Changnyeong

This study presents the results of an analysis rusty textile around gilt-bronze crown and silver belt discovered during excavation survey Tomb No. 63 in Gyodong, Changnyeong, South Korea, 2020. Microscopic observation was conducted to observe conservation weaving states textile, cross/side-sectional investigation performed for fiber identification. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy were also carried out. The number layers fabric could not be determined because severe degradation. However, silk fibers triangular cross-section confirmed have twill plain weave patterns. featured a round cross-section. SEM revealed that this consisted wool fibers. Gyodong is important relic Gaya period, which verified atas historical sites late 5th century, identified diagonally patterned fabrics, such as twill. significant we obtained data on ancient by performing extensive examination tabby had only been previously described literature.
